Fin Drainage

Farm Services has laid many miles of fin drainage for construction projects. For example a Fin Drain is laid in what will become the central reservation of a new build dual carriageway section of the A5. The drain is designed to collect storm water from the carriageway and move it quickly to an outfall. Our specialist equipment, on this occasion our Masternbroek 15-15, works smoothly and accurately on the road base layer. The spoil is collected and removed by a conveyer, then taken away to a tip on site. At the same time permeable fill is placed into the trench via a purpose built hopper. The pipe is laid, spoil removed and backfill inserted in one procedure. The resulting clean and precise trench causes minimal mess, waste and disturbance to the construction process. The drains are installed using laser guidance and their location is recorded with a GPS device which is accurate to within 100mm.
