Coventry Colliery Sports Club

The construction of two new football pitches for a Local sports club in Coventry would normally have been a simple task but as the land had previously been a land fill tip it presented a few problems. Although a deep, contaminate free, layer of top soil had been placed on top, below (just at the ideal depth of drainage) the land was polluted with numerous and large concrete blocks. Having dug trial pits and assessed the problem we decided to take no chances and brought in our sizeable Mastenbroek 25-20 trenchless machine, a machine not normally used on a sportsfield. The decision paid off as the large machine ripped through the ground pushing any obstacle aside. 80mm drains where laid at 5 metre centres with a permeable fill of gravel and rootzone. After the drainage was completed the sportsfield was graded, stone picked and seeded. Before long the grass was growing and the pitches were up and running.
