The Estate has many existing drains that were installed in the 1970’s and although some are still working well, many of the laterals are without a gravel backfill, and spaced at 30 metre intervals, which has proven to be too far apart on the soil types on the estate.
In 2016 an entire 12 acre field was drained but often these wet areas form in just part of a field. In both 2015 and 2017 two sections of the field were drained.
Nuneaton Old Edwardians was founded over a hundred years ago and is a traditional Midlands Rugby Club with a proud history and a 1st XV continually adding to that history. Unfortunately it was also known for a boggy first team pitch which was causing the club a few problems
Godfrey Payton called on Farm Services to install the new water supply as it had done many times before.
Set in 105 hectares of farm land and parkland the site has a number of features which add interest to the course, including the now expanded Old Uttoxeter Canal, an island green in the South Lake and the ruin of Woodseat Hall. Built to the highest standards the course is to be a world class sporting venue.
